FAQ

Acupuncture can be helpful if you have a specific health problem or if you are in good health and interested in health maintenance, a greater sense of well-being, or stress relief.

Contrary to common perception, acupuncture treatments are almost painless and very relaxing. Many patients fall asleep during treatment, but patients experiences differ from nothing to a brief localized ache or heaviness. As few needles as possible are used to correct the condition.

Acupuncture is safe. The needles are fine, sterile, disposable, and solid stainless steel.

The recommended frequency for treatments varies with each individual. After the initial evaluation, you will be seen weekly for 6-8 visits. As patients experience improvements in their conditions, treatment may be extended to every other week, then 3 weeks, monthly, seasonally, or as needed.

During your first visit, which typically takes 1-1/2 hours, we will discuss your current concerns, medical and social history, and lifestyle. Susan will use Traditional Diagnosis to assess the underlying cause of your imbalance. A physical examination will also be done. The primary objective of the first appointment is to uncover the underlying conditions that have led to your current concerns. You will be free to ask questions about acupuncture and the healing process. Following the evaluation, you will receive your first acupuncture treatment.
